Converting the concrete firewater tank in the attic was another stroke of genius that gives the home an air of luxury while the boudoir-style bedroom clad in bright purple and pink takes you back in time almost instantly. With bookshelves crafted from reused structural beams and large industrial-style windows that usher in ample light this dashing loft brings together several different contrasting worlds in a grand fashion.
A cubic structure with industrial panache holds within it a smart modern interior that imitates the style and sensibility of an old and upgraded warehouse to perfection. An open plan living area with a sunken living room promotes interaction between family members while reclaimed wood adds warmth and brings a sense of old-world elegance.
Another interesting feature is the cool combination of dark gray and pastel pink which transforms the living space into a chic and glamorous setting that borrows from Hollywood science fiction sets. Despite the generous use of gray there is a sense of excitement and energy throughout the loft and nothing feels mundane or far too sterile.
Adaptive reuse of old structures brings much more than just cost-effective and planet-friendly housing. These revitalized and revamped buildings offer a chance to shape a unique blend of styles and textures and to incorporate innovative features that simply do not find space in newly built contemporary homes.
It is the second level (cleverly hidden into the slope of the lot) that holds the master bedroom kids’ bedrooms and guest bedrooms even as one finds a seamless connection between both floors of the Pagoda House. A smart home that is both practical in design and fascinating in its form!
To further improve ventilation without sacrificing space the old light shaft was replaced by a cool walkable glass slab on the second level. The attic-level bedrooms enjoy a flood of natural light thanks to the presence of six roof windows even as the original timber structure here was preserved and restored. Repairs to the roof were carried out to improve the insulation of the house and avoid any future leaks while a simple color palette and Scandinavian-style décor give the home an inviting and polished appeal.
It is the series of stepped wooden shelves that transform the interior of this home and every level of the house is altered by their presence. On the lower level the series of shelves acts as a display unit for the living room and also doubles as a staircase railing that seems to flow into the second floor.
