Transforming a forgotten 1920’s manor house in the heart of Luxembourg EPAD managed to turn a dark and poorly planned interior into a light-filled modern home that meets the demands of an urban family. Spread across two different levels the traditional manor house was completely altered using a new floor plan that turned two levels of the home into a living area.
The dining room sits at the heart of this floor and offers a glimpse of the mezzanine-level bedroom above. The blue cabinets of the kitchen and the dark black workstation add color to the space even as the custom wall mural in the living area and the bedroom above usher in pattern and panache.
It is a splash of purple that breathes life into the bedroom even as a bright wall mural and clever decorative pieces fill the nursery with cheer. Art Deco influences hold sway in the dining room that also doubles as a serene and rejuvenating hangout with framed photographs adding to the urbane setting.
There are plenty of design aficionados across the world who dream about living in a ‘renovated warehouse’ that combines modern comfort with industrial aesthetics and timeless charm. This of course is not always possible because of property costs availability and the additional demands of a smart renovation. Cutting across these awkward corners and creating a breezy living atmosphere the designed by ALTS Design Office presents a brand new contemporary residence as a renovated warehouse-inspired setting.
The new addition contains within it a kitchen that becomes the ‘social zone’ of the house along with the dining room and the living area. A series of sliding glass doors connect the home with the central courtyard and the rear pool retreat that also contains a spacious wooden deck barbecue zone and outdoor dining space.
It is easy to see the many space-saving additions inside this cheerful and light-filled home. The standalone kitchen unit and workstation (sitting under the stairway) the small living area and the multitude of nifty cabinets give the lower-level living area a breezy ambiance.
Sculptural lighting additions like the iconic David Trubridge pendant provide visual contrast along with the chic tiled backsplash in the kitchen. A relaxing color scheme coupled with curated pops of color complete the – a cozy dwelling that acts as a perfect suburban oasis.
